1. ARE YOU A LICENSED DESIGNER/DECORATOR?
No. I have no formal education beyond a few college courses in graphic arts and design but Iíve always had good intuition when it comes to colour, pattern and design, paint, flooring and fabric choices, accessories, where to place furniture etc., plus Iíve worked as a visual merchandiser in the retail industry for over 20 years.
2. HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE FOR INTERIOR DECORATING SERVICES?
I typically encourage my clients to hire a licensed designer/decorator to oversee large scale projects. If your home or office just needs a little freshening up but youíre not quite sure what to do or where to start, bouncing some ideas off me during a face-to-face consult (for $20/hr.) would be a great idea.
3. HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE FOR CREATING CUSTOM WORKS OF ART?
A lot of the stuff I make is quirky and eclectic, like the kind of things you find at Pier 1 or Home Sense. But my work is not manufactured on an assembly line in China, so youíre going to pay more than $20 for an African mask, Indian Buddha statue or wall art made with shards of recycled glass, metal and plastic. I love working with my hands, and I will charge a fair and reasonable price based on tools and supplies used, and the time it took me to create the artwork in question. You tell me what you want, Iíll give you a quote and stick to it ó unless you make further changes ó and you are NOT obligated to accept the piece once itís completed.
4. DO YOU ONLY DO CUSTOM WORK OR CAN I BUY SOMETHING READY-MADE?
Sometimes, I make new pieces with no buyer in mind, and they sit on my bookshelf until I decide to sell them. Additionally, there are times when a client has rejected a work I created specifically for them and, in that case, itís up for grabs, baby! I also snatch up flea market finds for resale after Iíve cleaned them up, altered their appearance, if necessary. Click HERE to see whatís currently available.
5. DO YOU DO LARGE SCALE PIECES AND WALL MURALS?
Yes. Some of my canvas pieces have been over 6 feet high, and wall murals 10 ft. long. But if youíre looking for photo-realism from me, forget it. My work is more abstract and textural, like cartoon characters, hearts, flowers, rainbows, stripes, polka-dots, paisley and arabesque designs, faux brick, faux wood, faux stucco and peeling paint effects.
